The North American Spitfire Squadron held the 2009 Southern Spit-Together in conjunction with The Classic Motorsports Mitty-'09 at the famous Road Atlanta Racetrack in Braselton, GA. |

The featured marque this year at the Mitty was Jaguar. There were dozens of legendary cats ranging from the D-Type to the Group 44 IMSA GTP prototypes. Speaking of Group 44, the Classic Motorsports Mitty '09 planned to have the largest collection of Group 44 cars, drivers and crew members ever assembled. The restored Group 44 GT6 was there too with raffle tickets sold for a chance for one person to ride shotgun around the track. Cars participating in the NASS club Spit-Together had the oportunity to take parade laps around the track.
Other activities during the 3 day Spit-together will included a dinner for all the Spitfire and GT6 drivers on Friday night. The NASS Spit-Togeter car show took place Saturday at the Mitty followed by a dinner and an evening of "tire kicking" back at the host hotel parking lot. Sunday, after breakfast, we took a drive to Dahlonega through the North Georgia mountains followed by an afternoon stop at Consolidated Gold Mine for a tour of the mine and to do some gold panning. |
